The 14^th annual women's salmon fishing derby got off to a great start today.

The women took to the water and split up into three main groups: some targetted Chatham pt, some went to Deepwater Bay and the rest tried their luck at Browns Bay. The ladies efforts were rewarded with Chinook salmon ranging between 15 and 23 ½ lbs.

Congratulations to Denise Broderick, who reeled in the largest Chinook of the day. There's still one more day to go!
