A nice collection of photos from mid-July just made its way down to the office. Nice!
Cole Dagg sent in this great photo from his Langara fishing trip on the MV Charlotte Princess. He caught this nice 23 lb. Chinook with his grandpa, Keith and dad, Jordon. The trip was a graduation gift from Keith.
Thanks, Cole!

Today I meet two very bright young ladies in the April Point Dining Room. I was at the front desk when I heard someone playing on the piano. I was expecting to walk around the corner and see a crew member entertaining the guests eating lunch. Much to my surprise when I got around the corner I found Joy & Jolyn serenading the diners. After their piece was done they received a big round of applause. The most impressive part of all is that these sisters live in Argentina and receive piano lessons from grandma in Victoria via Skype. Keep up the great work ladies.
It's never a dull moment around the Resort. Next time you're in April Point Dinning Room feel free to show us what you can do with a piano.
After reading about all the fish being caught at our resorts in British Columbia, I thought it was time we show everyone how it’s done in the Bahamas.
Bert guided these lucky guests into this 70 lb. Wahoo, what a fight!

Congratulations to the Donahue group on their spectacular day of deepsea fishing at the beginning of May. The Belich group enjoyed the same success on their weekend getaway.

Congratulations to Wendy on catching her first bonefish, Happy Hour just hasn’t been the same since that day.

Bert introduced Brett to bonefishing and he is hooked! Pound for pound the hardest fighting fish in the world! Catch more photos from Brett’s trip on Tripadvisor.

Whether you’re fishing the reef, in pursuit bonefish, or going deep sea in search of trophy sized Mahi Mahi, our head guide Bert Adderley (also known as Lover Boy) will show you how to “rip some lips” in the Bahamas.

For more information on fishing at Cape Santa Maria, speak to your reservation coordinator or email the resort at resort@capesantamaria.com.

Blue skies, sunshine and great fishing are the order of the day at the Salmon Seeker as July draws to a close. All this and some of the most spectacular scenery on the BC Coast is what keeps our regular guests returning. Some of them for their second trip of the season!. One of them is our long time returnee Frank Kinnaird who came home yesterday with a nice 106 lb halibut in addition to his limit of Chinook. Another guest, Mike Robinson, snuck into the Masterfisherman’s Club with a halibut tipping the scales at an even 100 lbs.
Salmon action has been steady with mid twenties variety Chinook and Coho steadily increasing in weight and in numbers. A 38 pounder is the leading contender for the larget fish of the trip and as seems to be the case with the big ones, it was caught well inside Kano Inlet at Black Rock.
Everything indicates that this great weather should prevail through the weekend and our expectation is that the fishing will do the same.

Jim Hoy sent us a pic of the 62 pounder he caught yesterday, and wrote this:

The day started off on a sour note. We lost a spring to a sea lion and things were slow so we decided to mooch close to the kelp at Cohoe Pt.
We made our turn in about 30 feet of water and within 50 feet of the shore. My rod doubled over, but for five minutes it didn’t run. Then off it went… after 20 minutes I finally saw the fish.
We were now about a half mile from where I hooked him. It took another 25-30 minutes to finally get it in the boat after numerous runs and dives. It was a complete surprise when it turned out to be a 62 lb. Spring.
Thanks to Cookie for circling our boat to ward off sea lions and providing encouragement.

Well folks, three days ago we got a 44 lb. Chinook, a day later a 46 lb. Chinook and I knew it was only a matter of time before we got bigger. I would have been pleased to see a 48 or even a 50 pounder to get somebody on the Master Fisherman board. Jim Hoy provided the slab we were hoping to see, but he took it a step further.
Jim just weighed in a 62 lb. trophy silver-bright Chinook salmon, smashing the season’s record by 16 lbs.
He was fishing eight pulls right up against the kelp at Cohoe Point when he started the battle that he and his buddies, John Zoldan and Tom Chrisztopulosz, nervously endured for 45 minutes. I witnessed the whole thing and they did a great job. Congratulations boys.
Extremely tight lines,

After finally getting into Kano Inlet, guests’ patience was rewarded with some great fishing over the weekend with limits of mid to high twenties Chinooks a common sight. Two 35 pounders shared the trip honours for Evan Kerr and Peter Brown and Tyee were also landed by Audrey Faulkner, Terry Cardy and Glen Kitsch. Halibut were all of the “chicken” variety.
The warm sunny weather being enjoyed by everyone down south has now returned to the north and is forecast to stay with us for the remainder the current trip. As usual, these conditions are accompanied by moderate winds and seas but we are hoping for a repeat of last trip’s action.
