Well, another season draws to a close at Kano Inlet and our final group of guests have been treated to some of the most spectacular fishing of the season. Lots of catch and release action going on as they try to fill out their quota with the bigger Chinook.
Large halibut, which we thought had gone for the season, have also reappeared and six new Master fishermen received their rewards in this category. Topping the group was Sam Cottreau with his 192 pounder. Twenty six Captain’s club awards were handed out , evenly distributed between Coho over 15 lbs., Chinook over 30 lbs. and halibut over 50 lbs. Not sure if this a record or not but it must be close.
The largest salmon of the trip so far and the probable Trip Trophy winner, unless someone pulls off a surprise in the morning, is the 44 pounder landed by Doug Lemieux.
This final trip has been graced by calm seas and no rain which represents a real bonus in these parts, and while the weather has presented it’s challenges this year, it has been a decided improvement over the last two. As always , it has been a pleasure displaying Kano’s unique environment to our first time visitors as well as welcoming back our regulars. We hope to see you all again next year.
