Plenty of fish for everyone

MV Salmon Seeker - June 21, 2006

There’s no doubt the early fisherman catches the best fish and the whole fleet of Salmon Seeker’s boats were away just at dawn to take advantage of the quiet early morning hours around the inlet. Today’s catch of some 60 fish included our first Chum of the season as well as  a 41 pound Chinook, our record so far for this group of guests.

The fish are certainly here and are greedy. Today they were feeding aggressively on numerous bait balls in Kano Inlet and were still ready to go for our lines as well.

In the anchorage, we now have visits from some young sea lions who are obviously interested in grabbing a free meal if one is going. Meanwhile, the bald eagles are getting bolder and bolder at going for what comes off the fish deck at cleaning time. There are some fine pictures to be had of these magnificent fliers at work.
