"I've just returned from 5 days at Hakai Pass, and the Coho fishing was simply the best I've seen anywhere in over 10 years" reports Martin Paish, Northern Resorts Manager. "Not only were there literally thousands of them present at each fishing location, (I would suggest that we averaged about 30 Coho per day per boat during the time I was there), but they were BIG and extremely strong fighters."
The Coho are averaging over 10 lbs with plenty in the high teens and one Masterfisherman award given for a Coho over 20 lbs. Virtually all are the 'Hooknose Northerns' that fight so hard, jump so much, and taste so good on the barbeque. Several Coho were caught on bare hooks and attacked weights as they hung beside the boat. Chinook fishing is also respectable with anglers pulling in some nice sized springs at Odlum Point and in the Pass, only three minutes from the resort.
The weather reports have been fabulous with temperatures reaching the high 20's (Celsius) and with calm waters, beautiful surroundings and tremendous action on quality fish, Hakai is the place to be.
