Langara Island Report

Langara Island Fishing Resorts - July 20, 2005

The fishing at Langara over the last week can be described with one word: deeeeeeeep.

Plenty of Chinook have been caught at 100 feet and deeper, with many coming straight off the bottom. Slightly warmer water temperatures have been the cause of this phenomenon. The last group saw a trio of 40 pounders with many stories of big battled. The bonus of this deep fishing for Chinook has been many chicken halibut caught right off Cohoe Point.

When the weather has been cooperating, new fishmaster Shawn Pennell a.k.a. Cookie, has been taking guests to a new untapped bottom fishing area where 40 lb. Lings and 15 lb. yellow eye are commonplace. Let's just say that the deckhands are doing double time on these days!

The weather has improved over the last few days allowing for fishing all around Langara.
