King Salmon Resort in Rivers Inlet

King Salmon Resort - August 8, 2001

King Salmon Resort at Shotbolt Bay, Rivers Inlet, 300 miles northwest of Vancouver, is enjoying a great season with some monster springs reaching the docks. July recorded 3 masterfisherman with salmon over 50 lbs and already in August, 7 have earned this title, with 4 guests bringing in springs over 50 lbs on the same day. The largest weighed in at 62 lbs, a resort record for this season until one angler single-handedly hooked and netted a 66 lb. spring earlier this week. Not a bad way to spend an evening! Yet on other days, guests don't go home empty handed. Numerous springs in the 20-40 lb range reach the docks and the number of Coho caught continues to more than outnumber the guests.

Marge Fields of Roseburg Oregon thought the fishing was excellent. On her first trip to King Salmon landed a 39 lb spring near Kilbella Point and on the following day landed a 54 pounder. "I became a Masterfisherman on my first trip to the King Salmon Resort. I also received the prize for biggest fish, a Reel Clock, which has a place of prominence in our living room."
