Fishing paradise

MV Salmon Seeker - July 22, 2007

queen charlottes fishingA weather system off the Oregon Coast has finally brought in a bit of rain, but guests don’t mind a bit. It seems that the light showers enhances the appetite of the salmon. The wind speed at Kindakun Point, which is at the entrance of Kano Inlet, was four knots at 0400 and it dropped later to zero knots. Perfect.

A sample of what it’s like to fish the western QCI: Joey Genova and Lyndsee Sisemore came back for a hot lunch with their daily Coho limit and decided to go out afterwards for halibut.

Last trip we gave three clocks for a three way tie of Chinook (42 lbs.). So far, the largest salmon is a tie with a 37 pounder caught by Lyndsee Sismore of California and Peter Wiesse.

A new sea lion is back today around our boats. Although it creates something for our guests to watch, it is annoying when s/he grabs our gusts’ fish. Wildlife is great to enjoy watching until it interferes with the fish that our guests catch and usually they get the big ones. Stay alert!
