The big northern Coho have shown up here at Langara Island with many fish in the 9 to 12 lb. range coming in over the past few days. Guests are averaging 10 to 15 Coho per day, along with Langara's famous Chinook.
Today, an 18 lb. Coho and a 40 lb. Chinook came into the MV Marabell, while the Charlotte Princess had a quite a few Tyee-class Chinook (30 pounds and up) displayed on the dock. Due to water temperature, the Chinook are still being caught quite deep, though they're definitely there.
MV Charlotte Princess Fishmaster Shawn "Cookie" Pennell was quoted as saying "There are signs of the herring and salmon moving into more traditional depths and areas, and I expect some of the best fishing of the season to be just ahead of us."
See you soon!
