Big haul

MV Salmon Seeker - July 16, 2010

All of our guests on Trip 11 caught their limit of Chinooks and the weather was fair then good for their trip.

New Captains’ Club numbers swelled by 15 as 7 members entered by catching halibut that exceeded 50 lbs. Our newest members" Paul Drost and Erick Priest at  55 lbs., Roy Kaneoka at 57 lbs., Anthony Roberts at 59 lbs., June Kaneoka at 65 lbs., Ronald Jones at 78 lbs. and David Tice with a 94 lb. halibut. You may notice that Roy and June Kaneoka caught their halibut side by side, with wife June (65 lbs.) winning this time.

There were also 8 Tyee salmon members who earned Captains’ Club awards: David Tice, Timothy Gapen, Ronald Scott and Robert Wiegele with 30 lb. Chinooks, Leroy Balster and Willis Gapen with 31 pounders and Robert Wiegele (again) with a 32 lb. Chinook salmon. Largest Salmon of the trip and winner of the coveted Oak Bay Marine Group clock was Mike Noble with a 37 lb. Chinook.

Finally, There were two new Masterfisherman awards handed out. Anthony Roberts got a 116 lb. halibut and Joseph Poy got a 129 lb. halibut, both taken on the same day in the Kano Inlet area.

Cheers,

~ Capt. Larry
