August-run Chinook coming in strong

MV Charlotte Princess - August 5, 2009

Hey folks,

Cookie’s back online with some great reports from Langara.

Salmon fishing has been fantastic for the past few days, with a ton of herring bringing in some nice Chinooks and seemingly millions of big Cohos as well. Andrews Point, Cohoe Point and Bruin Bay have been the hotspots for Chinook, with some fish coming from Boulder and McPherson as well.

The fishing has been shallow in the mornings with 12-20 pulls being the key depths. Yesterday morning you could barely get a line to twenty pulls without a big Chinook or 10-14 lb. Coho sucking your bait up.

In other news, the weather has let up enough for us to get a couple of trips out to west side bottom fishing, which produced many Lings and Yelloweye plus 85 and 86 lb halibut.

Anyway it seems the August-run Chinook are coming in strong and the Cho fishing is ridiculously good, to say the least.

Tight lines,
