Passport information for US guests
In 2007, all US citizens will need a passport to travel by air between Canada and the United States.
This new requirement only applies to guests flying into Canada from the United States. This does not affect guests who are arriving in Canada by land or sea.
Who needs a passport?
Under the new Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, all US citizens (including children and infants) will need a passport to return to the United States by air as of January 23, 2007.
Guests traveling by land will not need passports until 2009.

In most cases, you can renew your passport by mail.
How long does it take to get a passport?
It generally takes about six weeks to receive your passport. For an additional fee, it is possible to get your passport in as little as a week.
How much does a passport cost?
An adult passport costs $67 USD and is valid for 10 years. A passport for children 15 and under costs $52 and is valid for five years.

What if I don’t want to get a passport?
You can still enter Canada by land or sea without a passport. If you are travelling from outside of the Pacific Northwest, you may want to consider flying to Seattle and driving to Vancouver (about three hours).
