Carla – Fish master
Canadian Princess Resort, Ucluelet
This will be my fifth season at the Canadian Princess Resort. I first started as the resort gardener and during my second season I added the title of “Fish master” to my belt.
My job involves dealing with mass numbers of fish and I am responsible for the handling and tracking of all fish caught at the resort. I also fillet fish from the halibut or bottom fishing charters when they return to the dock in the evenings. As my department is located front and centre, guests often stop by for a chat about fishing, catch limits or to get the update on what’s hot. I am also responsible for making sure all our fishing boats are stocked with supplies and ready to head out on their next trip.
Working here I’ve met many wonderful people, both crew and guests. There is nothing like having guest from a previous year come up and say “Hi Carla, how’s fishing.” The CP is a great place to work.
