Angie – General accountant
Head office, Victoria
I have been part of the Oak Bay Marine Crew for a little over 5 years. I look after the accounting for our four marinas: Oak Bay, Pedder Bay, North Saanich, and our newest and rapidly expanding marina in Ladysmith. I also reconcile the company’s fishing license inventory. Being one of the leaders in the sports fishing industry you can imagine the amount of licenses that come across my desk and it is great to see that our customers come from all over the world. I audit April Point Resort & Spa’s cash sheets as well as perform some year end, closing inventories.
I work at head office in Oak Bay where we have one of the greatest views in the city. Arriving at work every morning and smelling the ocean air and either seeing a bright blue sunny sky or watching the fog roll in is a fantastic highlight of my job and my day. I have to add that glancing out my window and watching the seals at play doesn’t hurt either!
At head office there is a great, casual, environment—no jackets and ties required—and the atmosphere is a little more relaxed and everyone is treated like family. I have met so many people here and have developed some wonderful friendships. It is great to be able to go and have lunch at our own Marina Restaurant and enjoy the chef’s daily specials. Everyone looks forward to seeing the menus printed off every day, wondering what’s for lunch!
I have developed many skills while working here as well as being able to continue my education. It’s great to see how the company has grown and changed throughout the years. I am very proud to say I work for the Oak Bay Marine Group. We are moving forward with a President that contributes back to the community in an effort to ensure that our beautiful oceans and marine life will be there for us and future generations to enjoy.
