Position:          Lead Deckhand
Reports to:                Fishmaster
 
Job Description:       Our guests come to the Northern Resorts for one very important reason: to fish. Deckhands play an extremely important and visible role during the course of a trip. They are required to keep all aspects of the outer resort looking clean and professional. This position is responsible for cleaning and organizing all guest boats, tackle maintenance and cleaning and vacuum packing all fish. 
 
Responsibilities:     
Ÿ     Deckhands are to organize and maintain the outside of the ship.
Ÿ     It is extremely important that Deckhands and Stewards coordinate to maintain the rain suits so the zippers function, there is no garbage in the pockets and a constant rotation of dry suits and boots are available.
Ÿ     In cooperation with the Lead Deckhand, this position must communicate the ordering of all tackle and dock inventories such as leaders, weights and all fish packing supplies.
Ÿ     Deckhands are to ensure that all guest boats are clean, organized and fully equipped with tackle and boat supplies. Quite often guests will have special requests for their boat, so following our “Yes I Can” program Deckhands are to accommodate guests to the best of their ability.    
Ÿ     This position is responsible for all fish cleaning and vacuum packing. At the end of the night, each of these workstations is to be clean and organized.  
Ÿ     At the end of a trip, Deckhands are to box up all guest fish, prepare the docks and boats for the changeover and assist with any freight. As the guests are observing, these three to four hours during changeover require the Deckhands to work fast and efficient as a team in order send off one group and be ready for another. 
 
Working Conditions         
All four Northern Resorts are located in remote areas off the west coast of British Columbia. All crewmembers work seven days a week, 12 hours a day and are paid on a daily rate. Depending on the resort, our season runs approximately 70 to 100 days. During this time it is important for our crew to eat properly and ensure they get adequate amounts of sleep. All room and board is provided at no charge. Each resort has different crew quarters and you may be required to share a room. Timeout, if arranged at the beginning of the season is available for typically 4 to 7 days. Upon the completion of a full season, OBMG will pay each crewmember a bonus of $10 per day worked. This bonus is accumulated and paid out at the end of the season.

Ÿ     BONUS CERTIFICATIONS: MED - Basic Safety Training (BST), Survival Craft (SC), Radio Operators Certificate (ROC-M), Occupational First Aid, Level 1 or 3 (OFA 3)
Ÿ     WHMIS or TDG
