- The town has a fishing history including tales from legends such as Captain Vancouver in the 1790's, Sir Richard Musgrave in the 1890's and Roderick Haig-Brown in the 1920's.
- Home to the Tyee Club of British Columbia – a traditional style of fishing in small rowboats at the mouth of Campbell River.
- Painter's Lodge was built in 1929, burned down on Christmas Eve in 1985 and was rebuilt by Oak Bay Marine Group in 1988.
- The resort has been a summer playground to the Hollywood set including John Wayne, Goldie Hawn and Bing Crosby.
- Painter's Lodge employs the largest fleet of Boston Whalers in North America.
- The Resort has a total of 94 rooms with accommodation for up to 422 people in six wings. The main lodge features a dining room, pub, lounge and gift shop. Meetings and conference facilities are also available, as well as a pool, hot tubs, tennis courts, fitness centre, guided fishing, whale watching and other activities.
- April Point Resort & Spa
- Located on Quadra Island, the largest and most populated of the Discovery Islands, situated in the Discovery Passage between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia – home to 3,500 people.
